As the tide of war recedes, a wave of change has washed across the Middle East and North Africa, from Tunis to Cairo; from Sana’a to Tripoli.
The President conveniently overlooks here that we supported and kept in power many of the leaders that were washed away in this “wave of change.” In 2009, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had this to say about now-deposed Egyptian tyrant Hosni Mubarak:
We look forward to President Mubarak coming [to the United States] as soon as his schedule would permit. I had a wonderful time with him this morning. I really consider President and Mrs. Mubarak to be friends of my family. So I hope to see him often here in Egypt and in the United States
