I'm going to make sure we can continue to burn clean coal

from President Barack Obama (Ft. Jim Lehrer & Mitt Romney) – First Presidential Debate of 2012 on Rap Genius

Meaning

“Clean coal” is a term used by the coal industry to refer to methods that mitigate and reduce pollution as a result of burning coal. Numerous environmental groups, including Greenpeace and the Sierra Club, have criticized the term as misleading, since so-called “clean coal” still creates pollution.

According to the Sierra Club’s Dan Becker, “There is no such thing as clean coal and there never will be. It’s an oxymoron.”
