Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II

About Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II

The Queen of the United Kingdom for 69 years, since 1952, and still reigning as of August 2021.

She is the longest-reigning British monarch, as of September 2015 when she surpassed the reign of her great-great-grandmother Victoria.

In her time as Queen, she has seen many struggles in her realm, such as World War II, the Korean War, the Cold War, and the Brexit crisis. Even though these difficult times, Elizabeth II showed vigour and vitality into the British monarchy.

Personally the 1990’s were a hard time for Elizabeth II. Because this was the time three out of four of her children got divorced. She even has called 1992 her annus horribilis, meaning horrible year. Her son Charles, Prince of Wales, divorced Diana Spencer, Princess of Wales in 1992.
