Back in the day, pirate radio stations used be run out of people’s houses/flats all over London, including being run out of people’s kitchens.
He was saying that he couldn’t believe he was wasting his time in the kitchen (slang for cooking drugs like meth or crack) when his music was starting to get onto the radio.
