Unfortunately, that won’t be before the World Cup semifinal vs Germany and Final. Neymar sustained a lumbar vertebra fracture when he was kneed in the back by Colombia defender Juan Camilo Zúñiga. The injury occurred late in the quarterfinal match vs Colombia (Brazil won the game, 2-1, but Neymar’s injury infuriated Brazilians).

According to CBF’s Doctor, Jose Luiz Runco, that recovery will probably take between 40 and 45 days.

Indeed. Brazil’s soccer federation actually pressed FIFA to punish the Colombian player who caused Neymar’s injury.

FIFA decided not to punish Zúñiga, explaining that the play has not escaped the match officials’ attention and that the play did not receive a card that needed any type of rectifying; this decision follows article 77 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.

This is not the first time the show has been in the midst of controversy; in 1998, Cumia and his co-host Gregg Hughes (Opie) were fired from a Boston-area radio station for claiming the mayor had died in a traffic accident (the claim was made as part of an April Fool’s hoax).

The show was then canceled again by Infinity Broadcasting in 2002 after the pair hosted a contest that resulted in a couple calling in to say they were having sex in New York’s St. Patrick’s Cathedral while a Mass was going on.

Cumia alleged on twitter that he was punched in the face by a woman who had stepped into the frame while he was taking a photograph. He then proceeded to tweet, for hours, a disturbingly racist and violent tirade, claiming that it is “open season on white people in this day and age.”
