Many often pick and choose verses from the Bible to suit their ends. The Bible both condemns homosexuality and promotes love of all God’s children.
Macklemore joins a long list of critics who point out that there are many things forbidden in the bible that hardly get the attention that homosexuality gets. For example, the bible prohibits remarriage after divorce. We can safely say there is much less debate on this issue than on the issue of gay marriage.
The Old Testament contains most of the scriptures that condemn homosexuality, while there is still debate about the New Testament’s position.
Many christians in favor of homosexuality and gay marriage call for the rejection of the Old Testament on the basis of the New Testament’s increased relevance.
Now, Macklemore may be referring to Old Testament, released around 3000 years ago, but he came out against organized religion, and does not hold this view.
Furthermore, people today have a tendency to “paraphrase” the Bible into their own words, for situations that did not exist or that the Bible was not intended for when it was written thousands of years ago.

When you said that it is unclear what the New Testament says about homosexuality, that is certainly incorrect. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, a New Testament book, says:
“Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.”
The Bible still takes an uncompromising position on homosexuality among other immoral things (as decreed by God) mankind can fall into, but offers the free grace of Jesus Christ to any, no matter the past offense, who accept his sacrifice and turn from their sin.
And "God loves all his children" is somehow forgotten

Following the line before, Mack wishes he wasn’t so cynical about his generation’s behavior in his music. Because of this, he has drawn a very hipster fanbase.
Traditionally, hipsters have been thought of as independent thinkers who are usually cynical of mainstream aspects of society.
Somewhere along the line, cocaine use has become a stereotype given to “hipsters”, despite it’s seemingly mainstream appeal.
Of course if you consider yourself an independent thinker and against the grain but also use such a standard drug like cocaine, you are somewhat hypocritical.
Mack relates this hypocrisy back to his own music, which may come off as “preachy” even though he was heavy into alcohol and drugs, among other things, himself.
