The Met Gala – full name: Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Benefit Gala – is an annual event where every celebrity known to God is present, and avant-garde is the bare minimum for your outfit. The ticket to attend, should you even be asked, is $25,000. This is a 10k jump from last year, which is said to be the work of Anna Wintour attempting to make the event more exclusive and keep the riff-raff out.
This year’s theme is “White Tie and Decorations”
The Gala is set to be held on May 5th.
The Costume Institute, opened in 1948, displays historical costumes and accessories in semi-annual exhibits.

The Titanic actually carried a total of 2,224 passengers, of which 1,517 died–a vast majority.
There were only lifeboats for 1,178 people; amazingly, this was compliant with the law of that time. Furthermore, many of the boats were launched only partially full. Passengers were reluctant to leave, still believing the ship to truly be unsinkable.
Regulations were changed after the sinking, requiring ships to carry enough lifeboats for all on board.
The Titanic Memorial Lighthouse in Manhattan honors those who never arrived in New York.
