Moby-Dick, the title character of Herman Melville’s 1851 novel Moby Dick, is a giant, mostly white sperm whale. Captain Ahab is determined to hunt down Moby-Dick because the whale bit off Ahab’s leg and killed his son during a previous voyage

Ahab’s monomaniacal pursuit of the white whale is used here as a metaphor for Mahbod Moghadam’s monomaniacal desire to recruit Kanye West as a Rap Genius “Verified Artist.” (Tom Lehman’s “white whale” is rumored to be Vanilla Ice.)

“Staying Alive,” the 1983 sequel to “Saturday Night Fever,” was directed and co-written by Sylvester Stallone (who made an uncredited cameo appearance in the film). “Entertainment Tonight” named the movie “Worst Sequel Ever” in 2006.

In the movie’s closing scene, John Travolta recreates the famous opening scene of “Saturday Night Fever,” strutting through Times Square as the Bee Gees sing “Staying Alive.”

This 1982 movie is very underrated. Scott Glenn plays the coach of a women’s college track team, and Mariel Hemingway is a star pentathlete who can’t decide if she likes boys or girls better.

Mariel’s lesbian lover in the movie was played by Patrice Donnelly, who competed in the 100-meter hurdles for the U.S. in the 1976 Olympics.

“The Seven-Ups” is sort of a sequel to “The French Connection” – the two movies shared a director (Philip D'Antoni), a star (Roy Scheider), and a great car chase scene. Unfortunately, “The Seven-Ups” did not have Gene Hackman.
