For 2012’s EP, Heart Flip, the band sharpened their focus on tight, succinct songwriting that spent less time hiding behind a heavy wall of sound. The album partially reflected the band’s change with a mix of full-band tracks alongside the new stripped-down acoustic songs.
The title is a play on words that somewhat references the skateboarding trick hardflip (combination of a frontside pop shuvit with a kickflip) but it’s also a reference to the heartfelt lyrics contained on the songs.
The one and only single for the album was “Ripped Away”.
