Kickin’

Rick James created his second Warner Bros. album, Kickin', for release in 1989, but the record company decided to only release promo copies in the United Kingdom. To coincide with the release of his autobiography Glow, the James Estate decided to digitally distribute the album on July 8, 2014. The album finds James creating music in line with his punk-funk brand while incorporating elements of the New Jack Swing that was popular at the time.
