Norman Granz had created Verve in 1956 to produce new recordings by Ella Fitzgerald.
Granz sold Verve to MGM, and in 1967 MGM didn’t renew Fitgerald’s contract. Thus we see her drifting between other Record Companies, here with producer Dave Dexter on Capitol Records.
