Where did the title ''Dope Don't Sell Itself'' come from?
Dope Don’t Sell Itself is a term that’s been used in the streets before, but I would like to have people that are not from the streets substitute “dope” for “ideas”. And it’s just about getting out and selling something that you feel like needs to be heard. And doing it the cool way without selling out. And so, Dope Don’t Sell Itself is my seventh album. I’d like to describe the album as anti-depressing. It just makes you feel a certain way: if you woke up on the wrong side of the bed, if you having spousal issues, this is the project to put in to rock, too.
