Rap Genius Partners with Universal Music Publishing Group!
Rap Genius announced today that it has entered into a licensing arrangement with Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG).
UMPG is one of the leading music publishing companies in the world with a wide array of songwriters and catalogs on their roster.
Rap Genius founder Ilan Zechory said:
We love UMPG! They have a truly incredible stable of writers – we will lend them a wheelbarrow for the Grammys they are about to win! Rap Genius lets UMPG's writers connect with their most obsessed fans, and we couldn't be more excited about solidifying this partnership.
On Rap Genius, fans and the artists themselves explore lyrics interactively via line-by-line annotations that they can read, create, and edit as part of a worldwide knowledge project. Beyond music, it is the Wikipedia of annotated texts of all kinds, including poetry, news, history, science, the bible, and much more. Currently, students from HarvardX's Massive Open Online Course on the New Testament are collaboratively annotating the letters of St. Paul.
