I’ll remember who you were and how we’ve both changed and stayed the same.
Heraclitus was right, “Nothing endures but change.” Heraclitus opined that “You could not step twice into the same river; for other waters are ever flowing on to you.” However, while the water may change, it is still the self same river. If I take a dip in a certain part of the Amazon for example, and revisit that exact site a day later, yes the water has totally changed, but it is still the self-same river; No one will say that it is no longer the Amazon River which I am stepping into, even though I am undoubtedly stepping into completely different water. So while some aspects of our person-hood change over time (our opinions and likes and dislikes for example), the core of our soul, what really makes you, “you,” remains the same.
