Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity
Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contracts operate like a shopping mall where many stores are co-located and can sell their wares to multiple consumers. IDIQs are typically awarded for related goods or services, like a shopping mall for sporting goods stores.
Awarding an IDIQ contract does not guarantee future work, just like being included in a shopping mall doesn’t guarantee future sales (although it does put the vendor in prime position to sell to buyers).
