Even after we deploy hefty amounts of capital in our current operations, Berkshire will regularly generate a lot of additional cash. Our next step, therefore, is to search for acquisitions unrelated to our current businesses.
We have a giant pile of cash. Our shareholders want us to pay dividends with that money. Instead, I just told you that I will reinvest it in ways that make our businesses more competitive. Even after these reinvestments, we will still have a sizable pile of cash. Will we pay dividends with it? Nope, we’re gonna buy more companies!
